To do this in a safe and environmentally friendly way, check out the following web pages: Below are pictures of my first attempt at constructing a basic Sawdust Toilet using high-quality birch plywood for the sides and 1x3 inch red oak lumber for the legs. Note the continuous hinge across the back of the top! The top, itself, is a high quality pine plywood that must have gotten into the birch slot by mistake: "The board that the woodworkers rejected, the same is become the top of the sawdust toilet" (cf. Matthew 21.42).
