Don't forget--there's more to YOU than meets the eye!

In the cave allegory at the beginning of Book VII of the Republic, Plato describes the experience of people living in a cave whose perceptual horision is restricted to the shape and movement of shadows on the cave wall. He contrasts the reality of the light which projects the shadows-- together with the forms which cast the shadows --with the superficial experience which constitutes the everyday existence of those living in the cave. This allegory well illustrates the metaphysical distinction between Reality and appeances which is fundamental to Wayne's World. Morever, it should also serve to illustrate the possibility that there really is more to You-- to each and every one of us --than meets the eye.
